Windows XP Pro Network Places Problem?

hello,

i only have one pc xp pro and the other is suse linux 10.1.

i am not worried about networking right now. but i would like too.

my MAIN PROBLEM i am having is when i go to start --%26gt; My network places --%26gt; then when i click

on "View workgroup computers" , my xp pro machine just sits there and waits and then gives an error like "MShome not accessible. Please contact your network administrator for permissions" (something to this effect).

i connect to a router via DHCP. i have Kaspersky antivirus and XP SP2 firewall.

i know i was messing around with the local security settings trying to get my xp box networked with the linux box and perhaps this screwed it up.

IS THERE A WAY TO RESULT LOCAL SECURITY SETTING BACK TO DEFAULT OR, AT LEAST, BE OPEN TO ANY KIND OF NETWORK SHARING(or to reinstall the networking part of XP only)????

Thanks !!!!

Markee.

Right click on your C: drive and click sharing. then it should ask tell you that its not safe bla blah choose just enable it file shareing anyway.

also go to control panel- network conections and right click on your conecton probably called local area network- a screen opens choose install--- protocol- network monitor and ipx protocols.

then try it you should be good.

Reply:right click MY Computer goto Properties, click Computer Name and change it to a workgroup, call it workgroup. mshome is a workgroup used by MS, other computers also change to the same workgroup
