If I understand correctly, a TV network (i.e. MTV) distributes content through partnerships with providers (cable, dish, etc...). How exactly does a network operate? How do they get tv shows? Do they produce them, or work with other production companies? If I had a great idea for a show and even recorded a demo, how would I get it on a TV Network (like MTV, Bravo, etc...).
Also, how does "paid programming" work? Many different programs appear via "paid programming" on a network. How do those get on the network?
