Sharing hard drives on network securely?

Hey all, I have an in-home network set up using the Linksys WRT54G Broadband Router. I know I can share the hard drives on the network so that way I can access files on any computer on the network from any computer on the network.

I have WAP security set up so anyone that tries to get on my wireless network from their device will have to enter a Key to get access.

My question is, is it safe to share my hard drives over my network now? I don't want people on the internet to be able to get access to them. Since the broadband router is also connected to the internet, I know it is possible for computers on the internet to try to get access to my network. Will the WPA wireless security prevent people from getting access? Or is there another step I need to take to stop people on the internet from seeing my hard drives?

once you have proper wireless security enabled (WPA2 personal is better, but WEP works too....) sharing network drives is as safe as being wired. All communications between the router and the comptuer are encrypted.

This is not to say someone can't hack in if they REALLY wanted to.
Reply:Enable the MAC address feature on you router. This will limit access to only those MAC's you have entered.

Good Luck
Reply:use encryption in the securty tabs
