I recently set up a wireless network in my home. I bought a wireless card for my PC and last night and this morning it was connected to the network and everything was fine.
Now, the other computer detects the network, but cannot connect (it says there is Limited or No Connectivity). When I try to connect, it gets stuck at "acquiring network address" or something like that. I am using an Linksys router and a Belkin USP wireless card.
Any ideas?
Wireless Network Trouble?
Have you tried restarting the router? It sounds as though the card is not receiving it's IP address through DHCP.
Reply:If you laptob is new, then you didn't need a Network card, you could've cimple connected it by going to network connection. But you get that message when your to far from the router, or there is not enough internet supply left for you. Which means someone is using your internet, you should put a SSD on your router, which is a password. Go to linksys.com, there contact them, they give you an address and you must go there to set up a password. It worked for me.
Reply:Whenever I have encountered this problem is because you are not allowed to access the nework, so the card is connected but there is no information going or coming.
This can be due to 2 things,
1. The newtork is protected with a security protocol, either WEP, WAP or similar, this means you set up a password or passkey and now the network card needs to enter this code to have full network support.
2. You have to access the MAC address of your network card, it should appear on the box. Go to the linksys configuration page, look for the MAC addresses that are allowed and add yours.
If you can't acces the network page due to the no connectivity, try to connect the router to the computer by cables, then change that, then try again.
Check your users manual or the routers's website for more suppport on how to change the MAC address and how to reset if you changed some configuration by mistake.
Let me know how this works out.
