Wireless network problem?

i have been connecting to a wireless zone which was provided by my college's hostel.. however, i have difficulties into connecting to the network which usually says "limited connection" or it couldn't connect to the network at all. but during the college's holiday which most of the student living in the hostel would be out station, i found out that i could connect to the wireless network easily and get a very fast internet connection. So does the "limited connection" sign appears due to many users through the network? any good ideas to solve this problem?

Wireless network problem?
There could be a few reasons for that.

The most common one is a low signal. If your wireless on a router/network that only has so much bandwidth and your signal is poor, you will get that message.

The other chance of you seeing that message is the connectivity is being corrected. Meaning they are working on the network your trying to access.

I would put money on the first one though. It's really nothing to worry about, its not anything wrong with your system.
Reply:Well, I don't think too much connections is the problem... Most times, this issue could be resolved by restarting your pc.
Reply:that is exactly why. you are competing with other users for a limited amount of network connections. the only way to cure this is for whoever is in charge of the network to add more connections, this would require buying more hardware.
Reply:Sounds like too many connections. Contact the network administrator. Or keep trying.
Reply:Their are probably not enough addresses available in thje college DHCP for all the machines using it. Speak to them, if they have multiple pools it could also be that you area has more machines connected than they anticipated.
Reply:At first it sound like too many users, but it maybe that the access point where not configured correctly. During your break it seems they may have "fixed" it. Just make a note or the location of where you are and the signal strength in those areas. When classes starts back up again, go back to those area and see if you receive the same signal strength. If it go down then they need to improve their equipment. Let the system administrator know what is going on.
