Network prob?
Without seeing your configuration...just thinking out loud: Possibly your modem is acting like a router and blocking broadcasts from your PC's. Instead of using "network neighborhood", try mapping them as drives to each other.
Find the IP addresses being assigned to your PC's ("ipconfig/all" from a DOS prompt) then right-click on "My computer" -%26gt; "Map network drive", and in the the text box type (assuming the IP of the other PC is 192.168.0.1) type: \\192.168.0.1\c$ to map to the C:\ drive of the other PC.
This is IP to IP and bypasses any broadcast blockage issues.
Reply:Do you mean NO ROUTER? Use Ethernet to a Router, then Ethernet to Both computers. Buy a LinkSys.
(The USB connection would NOT provide you with dual access or establish a network. it would only be used for stand-alone mode. )
Good luck
