Home Network Issues?

I have a PC running xp sp2 wired, a notebook xp sp2 wireless, an xbox 360 wired, and a PS3 wired all to a linksys WRT54G ver 6. For some reason every hour or so I cannot access the internet. When I check the connection on start bar, it says I am connected, yet I cannot access the internet. The only fix I have for it is running the network set up wizard and changing the network name, or unhooking network and or power cables of the router and the cable modem. Sometimes it's as easy as running the "repair" app. Sometimes I do everything listed and I just have to wait for it to start working again. The cable company says that my connection is fine but both times the tech showed up the internet was working. Any ideas? I have ran every network set up app from linksys as well. This problem also has gotten progressively worse. At first it happened a few times a week. Now it happens a few times an hour. I have changed nothing in terms of security in this time span. I run McAfee for security.

Home Network Issues?
do all of your PCs have the issue or just 1? if its just 1 i would look at the PC, maybe nic drivers if its wired, if its wireless maybe interference on that channel.

if all PCs have the issue it has to be the router or connection. try pluggin your PC directly in the cable modem and see if it works consistantly.

as for pinging you must have a firewall blocking it, is it on all PCs or just the 1?
Reply:Check the Lease time on the router. Mabe you have a lease for an IP ADDRESS for an hour. Change it to a day and see if that helps.
Reply:It sounds like your DHCP lease of a real IP, the one that is on the cable network bridge is expiring to rapidly and that your router isn't adapting. Make sure your wireless router is obtaining it's information automatically from your cable network bridge.

Your cable network bridge may be faulty also.
Reply:Get a ping plotter, it will monitor your internet and help you identify the problem.
