The network connection on Toshiba PCX2200 does not work. PC light is on, but "A network cable is unplugged"?

I have tried all of the resetting and restarting solutions that usually work. The USB connection is working fine. However the network plug stopped working. I was working fine until last night when the cable internet went down for a while. I reset the modem and the PC light came during the self test, but the "modem" light on my router did not. I have tried plugging the network cable directly into the modem and computer. The computer says the cable is unplugged. I have tested the cables, router, and computer. They are all working fine. Right now I have the computer connected directly to the modem, so the problem is definitely the network plug on the modem. I have noticed that the PC light on the modem stays on even when the USB and network cables are unplugged. Anyone have any suggestions?

Get a new router
Reply:i suggest you get a new cable modem if the plug isnt working or send the cable modem back to the manufacturer if its under warranty. if that doesnt work you need to just get a new one. connect the modem to the router and simply run the router to all of your computers that you want the internet connection to reach.if all computers are factory built. it should pick up the ethernet connection automatically. if not then create a network for them. thats all i can tell you.
