hi, have anyone encountered a (virus?) problem when 1 time you are connected to the network then the following day, using the same settings, you suddenly can not surf the net?
I have a user in our network who was suddenly disconnected but the network icon is ok. I have tried using another IP, used different network cables and tried on a different port just to isolate the problem. But whatever I do, the connection will just last for about 3 secs then be disconnected (though the network icon is still indicating that I am still connected) when i ping our gateway.
I also tried to scan the system just to make sure no virus or any malware has infected it. I also visited the registry and tried HiJackThis for possible infection but it seems that no virus has infected the system but due to the symptoms, I believe otherwise.
Can someone pls help me resolve this problem? I encountered the same problem last month, I just reformatted the system. Is there a way to get the system goi
Denial of network service..?
Are your sure the network card is working properly? They do fail. This can also be caused by a corrupted driver or network stack.
I would say start by deleting the card from the system, reboot and resetup the card. If that works your done.
If not put in another card and see if the network functions with it. (just disable the current one or remove it).
Last ditch, remove all network components from that one system, including the card and all network setup. Reboot. - Shutdown and put the network card back in the system and reset up the network connections etc. That will force a reload of all drivers etc.
One other possiblity.. DHCP is not being renewed and connections are simply timing out. Does repair connection do anyting at all? Has the offending router been rebooted - if not reboot it and see what happens. Are the DNS servers all responding? Very stange issue.
