i am going to California University of Pennsylvania in the fall and currently am enrolled in their software engineering program, My goal is to have a job in Network Security but i am kinda worried this is the wrong degree for what i am looking for, the reason i think this throughout my next 4 years of classes i only have 1 class that focuses on networking, my last one my senior year, thre majority of the classes are programming in C++ which i already know and some fortran.i am A+ certified and am only 19 so i have some time to work with, but i dont want to make the mistake of getting a degree in something i dont need, anyone who is into some sort of network security have any pointers for me on what i should go for?? please help i dont want to end up with a all day programmer job!!!??????
Network Security degree??
If you want to work in Network and Computing Security you might want to get out of a major that sounds developer oriented. It would be more common to have a degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS) or other similar ones. See it it is possible to change majors. Remember that most of your first two year courses will be general and it is usually the junior year before you hit the main courses.
